Imagine crunchy chips meets fresh apples, that’s the best way to describe these homemade apple chips. The best apples to use are pink lady apples.

Apple chips are a great alternative to a potato chip, the main difference being that these contain vitamins and minerals. You can eat them right out of the container once they are done or serve them with a dip if you choose.

Every grocery store sell bags of pre-made apple chips, and they’re not bad at all. However dehydrated apples in air fryer are just THAT much better.

TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE THE BEST APPLE SLICES IN AIR FRYER

  • Slice the apples as thin as you can. The thinner they are, they better the crunch will be.
  • When adding them to the air fryer, ensure they aren’t touching. The more surface area that is exposed, the more crunchy they will be.
  • If your apples are softer you may need to add extra cooking time.
  • Don’t worry if the slices aren’t the exact same size or perfectly cut. The smaller they are, the quicker they will fry but it’s not necessary for them to all be perfect.

HOW TO STORE THIS AIR FRYER APPLE CHIPS RECIPE

First things first, make sure the apple chips are completely cool before storing them. If they are still cooling off they will let our steam and condensation, which will make them soften in the container they are stored in.

I recommend storing them at room temperature in an airtight container for no more than 3-4 days. You can also use a ziplock bag if you choose.

Keep in mind the air fryer dehydrated apples will soften no matter how they are stored, so ideally you want to make them fresh right before you want to eat them!

CAN I USE A MANDOLINE SLICER TO CUT THE APPLES?

Yes, a mandoline slicer can be very helpful for achieving consistent and thin slices. Make sure to use the guard and exercise caution to avoid accidentally cutting yourself.

WHAT SPICES ARE BEST TO SEASON THE CRUNCHY APPLE CHIPS?

Cinnamon is a popular spice for seasoning apple chips, but you can also experiment with other spices like nutmeg, ginger, or even a sprinkle of sugar if you prefer a sweeter flavor.

ARE APPLE CHIPS HEALTHY?

For dessert, it doesn’t get much healthier than baked apple in air fryer. I mean, it’s a lot lower in calories and carbs than air fried chips or air fried sweet potato chips.

I consider air fryer apple chips to be the perfect healthy snack! They are a delicious and nutritious snack when you’re feeling peckish.
