Marinated Grilled Chicken Sandwich Recipe (2024)

These Marinated Grilled Chicken Sandwiches are better than any fast food or restaurant chicken sandwich I have ever had. They are so easy to make, and I don't feel any guilt feeding them to my children because I know exactly what they are made of.

Marinated Grilled Chicken Sandwich Recipe (1)

The other night, I was totally in a dinner rut. This Marinated Grilled Chicken Sandwich came to the rescue!

All that I really wanted to do was just go grab some fast food and call it good.

But, we had already had fast food the night before, so I knew that I needed to pull myself together and just make dinner.

I started thinking about how much I love grilled chicken sandwiches from our local fast food joint; I thought about how I could easily make it myself, and this little number was born.

It was fast, easy, and my family loved it – which seems to be a recurring theme with the recipes that I post

I don’t post the ones that they gag on or complain about because chances are that your family would probably do the same.

Anyway, this is a quick and yummy alternative to fast food, and you won’t feel guilty feeding it to your family.

It’s healthy, delicious, and simple. Also, a ton cheaper than eating out.

Can I bake the marinated grilled chicken instead of grilling it?

You could most definitely bake this chicken in your oven, or even sear it on the stove top, instead of grilling it.

We live in Utah so winters are a bit extreme here, and my grill usually has a foot of snow on it from December-March.

So we bake these chicken breasts all the time, and the sandwiches taste just as delicious. Although I love the taste of a good grilled chicken breast, this works just as well.

If you bake your chicken instead of grilling it, preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and bake for 30 minutes on one side, then flip the chicken breasts and cook for 10-15 more minutes until done, or juices run clear when you cut into them.

What sauce would taste good with this marinated grilled chicken sandwich?

I am a total sauce person. I put sauce on my sauce. If you are looking for the perfect sauce for this sandwich, I have a few recommendations.

  • BBQ Sauce
  • Chipotle Mayo
  • Homemade Chick Fil A Sauce
  • Our Famous Secret Sauce Sauce
  • Maple Mustard Glaze
  • Honey Mustard
  • Ketchup
  • Mayo
  • Mustard

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 6 lettuce leaves optional
  • 2 tomatoes (sliced) optional
  • 1 cup dill pickle slices optional
  • 3 Tablespoons mayonnaise optional
  • 2 avocados (sliced) optional

Instructions

  • Mix together the oil, honey, lime juice, chili powder, and cumin in a ziploc bag. Place chicken inside, zip bag closed, and make sure that chicken is fully coated by marinade. Place bag of chicken in the fridge and let marinade for at least 30 minutes (I actually let mine go for about 2 hours- but you could even let it go for 8-10 hours for really flavorful meat!).

  • Remove chicken from fridge and preheat grill to medium high heat. Grill the chicken for a couple of minutes on each side, turning once, until the chicken is no longer pink and reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

  • If you want, you can toast your buns on the grill.

  • Top with your favorite toppings.

Looks like a pretty flavorful, simple grilled chicken sandwich. You a definitely right about letting the chicken marinate longer, it gives it so much more flavor. If I can, I usually try to marinate my meats over night.Mastering the Flame

This was very easy, especially since I only have to prep. The hubs does the grilling. I let my chicken marinate all day, about 6-8 hours to really get that flavor in the chicken. I pierce my chicken with a fork in a few places before adding the marinade to it, so the marinade gets all throughout the chicken, and with this recipe, trust me, you will want this flavor all through the chicken! It's so yummy! I served this with some easy potato wedges for a simple yet delicious dinner! Double bonus, if you're a WW like I am, this clocks out at 5 (Blue plan), 9 (Green plan), 5 (Purple plan). Those calculations do not include any optional items. Thank you Six Sisters for another AWESOME recipe!
